While so many blogs being built day and day, it is really a mystery to many bloggers how to make their blogs stand out. It easy. People want to read good content, and with good content ad revenue. maybe it is not so simple, here let me share some secrets of successful bloggers.
But I don’t guarantee that you could increase click-through ratios and they won’t bring you good karma or ads. If only .. Nonetheless, these tips still bring your some change and make your blog more useful.
Here is a list of short tips for marketing and optimizing your blog, hope you enjoy it
:
1. Research keywords and develop a glossary. Keyword Discovery, here are some useful tools could help you with this, like WordTracker, SitePoint, SEOBook etc.
2. Domain Name Decision. Decide to use a stand alone domain name like www.123.com or directory of existing website www.123.com/blog. Sub domain is also an option blog.123.com, it is up to you, unless your hosted services do not allow you to use your own domain name, like BSP.
3. Blog Platform Choosing. There are many blog platform out there, but I only recommend you the best and most popular platform – Wordpress, and it is completely free.
4. Blog Design. Choose a better theme for your blog, customize its look and feel templates, make it more perfect.
5. Enable automatic trackback and ping functionality.
6. Sitemap submission. Sign up a Google account, add your blog sitemap to Google Webmasters Tool, validate and prep for future submission.
7. Create Feedburner Pro account and enable feed tracking. Add feedburner plugins too.
8. Enable statistics for tracking. Google Analytics it free and powerful, I am using it too.
9. Optimize your blog, in order to drive traffic to your blog.
* Template optimization – RSS subscription options, social bookmark links, HTML code, title tags, URLs, ping etc.
* Add useful plugins specific to your Wordpress blog
* Create keyword rich categories (reference your keyword glossary)
10. Updating regularly. Post as often as you can, it is better that update every day.
11. Comment on a relevant blog. Research and comment on relevant industry related blogs and blogs with significant centers of influence, build your blog link popularity.
12. Blog Submission. Submit your blog RSS feed and Blog URL to prominent RSS and Blog directories and search engines.
13. Comment and Respond. It is a bloggers work, so make sure you always respond to comments on your blog and when you find that another blog post for you, send a thanking email or comment.
14. Communication with other bloggers. Use social networking services, micro blogs or forums to connect with other bloggers. If they like your stuff, they will link to you blog.
15. Forum Marketing. Request feedback or reviews of your blog in relevant forums. Point to it If you have a resourceful post that could help people.
16. Monitor inbound links, traffic, comments and mentions of your blog. Google Alerts, Technorati, Feeds etc..

When I first got started blogging, I made a huge mistake, that was I didn’t market my blog, up to now, my first blog netfuns.net is still a dead blog, after I posted too many reviews on it, now I decide to give up it, and start a new blog, the new blog may this blog, WWW.Craft Money Tree.com, this time I won’t forget how important marketing is, without marketing you won’t get good traffic, and no traffic no money.
